The college application process is a detailed on that has multiple components, all of which offer their own unique challenges. At Always Sunny Tutoring, we are focused on supporting students as they move through the entire process, from helping navigate the application and interview process, including preparing essays and recommendations, to preparation for standardized tests such as the SAT and the ACT.
SAT
The Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) exam remains one of the most daunting rites of passage in any high-schooler's life, and deservedly so as the test is crafted not only to test students' academic capabilities, but also to put those skills to the test in a timed setting, with a rigid and unfamiliar format, rife with questions written intentionally to confuse and frustrate students!
We here at Always Sunny Tutoring feel your pain. We offer support on demystifying the test for students, working on tried and true strategies that empower students to take on the test with a heightened sense of confidence and familiarity with the test. With these tools, students can focus on executing on test day with a consistent methodology and approach that helps facilitate performance on the SAT exam.
ACT
The American College Testing (ACT) exam has seen a recent surge in popularity of late as it grows in acceptance as a viable alternative to the more traditional SAT exam. The ACT differs from the SAT in that it contains an additional Science section to accompany the Reading, English, and Math sections more traditionally associated with these types of entrance exam; however, though the SAT and ACT cover similar academic topics, the format and presentation of the questions can differ.
Always Sunny Tutoring can help educate students about the differences between the ACT and SAT, and help determine which test or tests would offer the greatest potential for performance for each individual student.
